What to Expect the Day of Your Surgery
Please arrive at the time provided by our scheduling staff. Arriving promptly helps us keep your procedure on schedule and ensures you have adequate time to complete the registration process.
If your surgeon’s office has provided a different arrival time, please follow the arrival time given by Lake Ridge Ambulatory Surgery Center. The time provided by your surgeon’s office is an estimate and may change based on the final surgical schedule. The arrival time communicated by our scheduling staff is the most current and accurate.
When you arrive at our surgery center, you can expect to:
- Check in at the registration desk.
- Complete and sign any required registration and consent forms.
- Present your valid photo ID and insurance card so we can verify your information and make copies for your medical record.
- Submit payment for any required out-of-pocket costs, including copays, coinsurance, deductibles, or other outstanding balances.
- Begin your pre-operative preparation, where our clinical team will review your medical information, answer any questions, and prepare you for your procedure.
Transportation Requirements
For your safety, if you receive anesthesia or sedation during your procedure, you must arrange for a responsible adult to:
- Drive you home after your surgery. You will not be permitted to drive yourself or use public transportation or a rideshare service without a responsible adult accompanying you.
- Rideshare Exception: A rideshare service may be used only if a responsible adult (18 years of age or older) is present at the surgery center at the time of discharge, accompanies you in the rideshare vehicle, and remains responsible for your care after discharge.
- Be available at the time of discharge to receive and understand your post-operative instructions, sign any required discharge paperwork, and assist with your care at home.
- If the person driving you home will not be the individual caring for you after surgery, we ask that your caregiver be available by phone at the time of discharge, if possible, so our staff can review your post-operative instructions and answer any questions.
- If your designated driver is unavailable at the time of discharge and we are unable to reach your secondary emergency contact, the surgery center may arrange transportation through an approved Non Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) provider or specialized medical transportation service (such as a wheelchair-accessible van or medical escort service). Any transportation costs are the sole responsibility of the patient and are not covered by the surgery center. In most cases, the transportation provider will require a valid credit card before dispatching the vehicle. To avoid delays in your discharge and additional out-of-pocket expenses, please ensure your designated driver and secondary emergency contact are available on the day of your procedure.
Please note: If you do not have a responsible adult available to accompany you home, your procedure may be delayed or rescheduled for your safety. To help ensure a timely and safe discharge, your designated driver should remain at the surgery center whenever possible. If they choose to leave, they must be immediately reachable by phone and remain within a 10-minute radius of our facility so they can return promptly when you are ready to go home. This requirement also helps ensure that your driver can return quickly in the event of an unexpected change in your condition or another emergency requiring their immediate presence.
